Oilers Take Second at Gildas Club Laker Fall Invite, Duflo Claims Medalist Honors
Allendale, Mich. – The University of Findlay women's golf team competed in the one-day, 36-hole 17th Annual Gilda's Club Laker Fall Invitational on Monday, September 29 at The Meadows at Grand Valley State University. The field featured some of the region's top teams, including the recently nationally ranked No. 1 Oilers and No. 7 Grand Valley State.
Findlay earned a runner-up finish, tying with Ferris State at +17 for the event. Grand Valley State, playing on their home course, captured the team title with rounds of 291 and 294 to post a winning score of +9.
Junior Ashleigh Duflo led the way for the Oilers, turning in a dominant performance to capture medalist honors. Duflo fired matching rounds of 70 (-2) to finish the day at -4 overall, securing the third individual victory of her collegiate career. Remarkably, all three of her wins have come at The Meadows at Grand Valley State, continuing her success at the course.
Sophomore Gracie James provided steady play, tying for 8th place with rounds of 76 and 73 (+5). Senior Hayley Dye added a top-15 finish at +7, while fellow senior Ellie Yeazell tied for 20th at +9. Freshman Emma Myers rounded out the Oiler lineup, finishing in a tie for 41st at +18.
The Oilers also received strong contributions from their individuals. Freshman Paige Weiss posted her best collegiate finish, placing 7th overall with rounds of 71 (-1) and 76 (+4). Sophomore Mia Ringger finished 22nd at +10, sophomore Avery Thompson tied for 23rd at +11, and junior Audrey Keplar tied for 34th at +16.
The Oilers will return to action on Monday, October 6, when they host the William Beall Fall Classic at Findlay Country Club, one of the premier events of the fall schedule.

With the setback, the no. 21 Oilers move to 10-2 overall and 4-1 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play, while Cedarville improves to 11-2 on the season and remains unbeaten in league action at 5-0.

The Oilers move to 5-2-3 overall and 4-1-1 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play, while the Dragons fall to 1-6-2 on the season and 0-5-1 in conference play.

- Men's Soccer Falls on the Road to TiffinTiffin, Ohio - The University of Findlay took a trip down the road on Saturday, Oct. 4 to take on rival Tiffin University. Traveling back to Paradiso Fields for the first time since clinching the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) tournament championship last fall, the Oilers would fall to the Dragons by a score of 3-0. With the loss, Findlay falls to 4-4-1 overall and 3-2-1 in conference play. Meanwhile, Tiffin sees their record move to 5-2-1 overall and 4-1-0 in conference.
- Cross Country Competes at OWU InvitationalPowell, Ohio- The University of Findlay cross country teams took part in the OWU Invitational, hosted by Division III Ohio Wesleyan University on Friday, Oct. 3. The men's team placed seventh, while only four women competed, which was not enough for a team scoring finish.
