#21 Volleyball Wins Eighth Straight | Sweep Tiffin

Tiffin, Ohio- Just like they did two weeks ago, the University of Findlay volleyball team swept the Tiffin Dragons, this time on Friday, Oct. 3 inside of The Gillmor Center on the campus of Tiffin University. The Oilers, ranked no. 21 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) National Poll, earned a dominant 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-21) victory to improve to 10-1 on the year and a perfect 4-0 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play. Meanwhile, the Dragons fall to 2-8 on the year with an 0-4 mark in league play.

The Dragons kept pace with the Oilers early in the first set, trading points back and forth. Midway through, Findlay pulled ahead with an 11-7 run capped by a block from seniors Emma White and Alana Pohlman to take a 19-13 lead. A late push from Tiffin was halted as the Orange and Black closed the set by scoring five of the final eight points to take the first set 25-20.

Unlike the first set, Tiffin seemed to regain momentum in the second. With the score tied at 19, Findlay leaned on its depth as four different hitters recorded kills. The set was ultimately sealed after a pair of service errors by the Dragons, giving the Oilers a 2-0 lead in the match.

The third and final set was tightly contested once again until the Oilers pulled away late, scoring six of the last nine points to secure the 25-21 win and complete the match sweep.

As a team, the Oilers hit .296 with 42 kills on 108 attempts and just 10 errors. Meanwhile, they limited Tiffin to a .139 hitting percentage, as the Dragons managed 33 kills on 101 attempts with 19 errors.

Leading the way for Findlay was senior Lauren Foerster, who posted a game-high 12 kills while hitting at a .455 clip. She also added three digs and a season-high five blocks.

Senior Makenna Belcher continued her strong play, tallying 11 kills while hitting .370 and adding eight digs. Junior Kirsten Bomholt led the Orange and Black defensively with 11 digs.

Senior Emma White directed an efficient offense, dishing out 34 assists to go along with nine digs and four service aces.

Findlay will stay on the road for its next matchup, traveling to Cedarville, Ohio, to take on the Yellow Jackets. First serve is set for 5pm.
