Men's Soccer Falls on the Road to Tiffin
Tiffin, Ohio - The University of Findlay took a trip down the road on Saturday, Oct. 4 to take on rival Tiffin University. Traveling back to Paradiso Fields for the first time since clinching the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) tournament championship last fall, the Oilers would fall to the Dragons by a score of 3-0. With the loss, Findlay falls to 4-4-1 overall and 3-2-1 in conference play. Meanwhile, Tiffin sees their record move to 5-2-1 overall and 4-1-0 in conference.
The first half would be a defensive battle, with only eight total shots in the period. Five of these would come from the Oilers and three from the Dragons. In addition, none of these shots would be on goal.
The second half would be a different story, as Tiffin would outshoot Findlay 14-5. The Dragons would finally break the tie in the 49th minute, recording a goal to gain a 1-0 advantage.
The game would be put away when Tiffin would add two more goals in the 61st and 71st minutes. The Oilers offense would struggle in this one, as the five shots they had in the second half would also all be off target.
It would be Joey Chirco and Brendan Wishart leading the Oilers in shot attempts in this one, both finishing with two apiece.
Goalkeeper Keegan Grant would record four saves in 72 minutes of play. In relief of Grant was Ethan Hensley. The junior would finish with one save in his one shot faced in 17 minutes of action.
The Oilers will be back in action next Saturday, Oct. 11 where they will be back at home for a match-up with Northwood. Kick off will be at 1 pm.
