Zeisloft’s Late Goal Seals 1-0 Win Over Unbeaten Northwood

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay women's soccer team continued their strong run of form with a 1-0 victory over Northwood on Wednesday, October 9th at DeHaven Field. The win moves the Oilers to 6-2-3 overall and 5-1-1 in G-MAC play, extending their four-game win streak while handing the Timberwolves their first loss of the season. Northwood now sits at 5-1-3 overall and 2-1-3 in conference.

In a match dominated by defense and midfield battles, neither team found the back of the net until the closing moments. With just over three minutes left in regulation, sophomore Avary Zeisloft broke the deadlock in the 87th minute, firing home her third goal of the season to give Findlay the decisive edge.

Zeisloft was a constant threat throughout the contest, leading the Oilers with three shots on goal. Senior Sydney Noble also applied steady pressure with four total shots, while senior Payton Miller, senior Jenna Rybicki, and junior Ashlyn Brown each added key attempts on target.

Findlay outshot Northwood 14-9, including an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Oilers also limited Northwood's attacking chances, holding them to just three shots on target despite the Timberwolves' late push.

Fresh off being named G-MAC Athlete of the Week, senior goalkeeper Cat Graves remained solid between the posts, turning away all three shots she faced to record her third shutout of the season.

The Oilers also showed strong discipline and defensive organization, committing only six fouls compared to Northwood's 13.

Findlay will look to extend their unbeaten streak when they return to action on Saturday, Oct. 11, traveling to Painesville, Ohio to face Lake Erie at 7 p.m.
