Men's Golf Wraps up Fall with Runner-Up Finish in Pennsylvania
Farmington, Pa. - The University of Findlay men's golf team concluded its' fall portion of the calendar on Tuesday, Oct. 21, wrapping up play at the Intercollegiate at Nemacolin hosted by Findlay. After play was shortened due to darkness on the first day, teams finished with 24 holes on Tuesday. The Oilers finished runner-up in the tournament with second and third round scores of 297 (+9) and 295 (+7), respectively, finishing with a three-round score of 895 (+31). Grand Valley State, ranked No. 7 in the country in the latest national coaches poll and No. 1 in the Clippd national poll, took the tournament title for a second consecutive year with an 853 (-11).
Senior Luke Metzger was the top finisher for the Oilers, birdieing his first hole after the restart this morning, the par-four 18th hole. He would card a 71 (-1) and then come back with a 73 (+1) in his final round to finish with a 219 (+3) for the tournament. That score was good for fifth which puts him on the all-tournament team. That 71 was the low round of the week by a player for UF.
Not far behind were freshman Luke Siefker and Ross Dietz who each finished tied for tenth with a score of 224 (+8). Siefker shot 77 (+5) and 75 (+3) in his final two rounds while Dietz concluded with scores of 73 (+1) and 74 (+2).
