Oilers Dominate Lake Erie in Straight Sets
Findlay, Ohio– The University of Findlay volleyball team continued its impressive run in conference play with a decisive 3-0 sweep over Lake Erie on Saturday October 25, inside Croy Gymnasium. The Oilers rolled to set victories of 25-7, 25-17, and 25-10, improving to 16-3 overall and 8-1 in the G-MAC, while the Storm fell to 9-14 (2-8 G-MAC).
The Oilers were unstoppable on offense, posting a .488 team hitting percentage with 49 kills on just seven errors, while holding Lake Erie to a .016 mark.
Leading the way was senior Makenna Belcher, who dominated with 13 kills on a .542 hitting clip, adding one assist and a solo block for 13.0 total points.
Freshman Victoria Mescher continued her efficient play, tallying 10 kills on a blistering .769 percentage, while sophomore Grace Auer recorded a double-double with 10 kills, 10 digs, and a .529 hitting mark.
Senior Emma White orchestrated the offense with 42 assists, while also contributing three service aces, seven digs, and three total points. Senior Lauren Foerster added eight kills and hit .462, and junior Hannah Miller chipped in eight digs and two aces.
Defensively, the Oilers out-dug the Storm 33-23 and out-blocked them 4-2, while serving seven aces to Lake Erie's one.
Findlay overpowered Lake Erie with a .488 hitting percentage, finishing with 49 kills, 45 assists, 7 service aces, 4 blocks, and 33 digs, while limiting the Storm to just 15 kills, .016 hitting, and 23 digs in the sweep.
The Oilers return to action tomorrow, October 26 inside Croy Gymnasium when they host a non-conference matchup against Clarion at 1 p.m.
