University of Findlay president Dr. Katherine Fell announced today via email that she plans to retire at the end of this school year.

“I am writing to share the news that the Board of Trustees today accepted my decision to retire at the conclusion of the 2025-26 academic year.

On a personal note, the special opportunity to be a part of the Findlay family for 16 years has been a profound gift.  Roger and I will be forever grateful for the inspiration you have been.

Dr. Fell came to the University in July 2010 as the University’s 17th president and first female president since it was founded in 1882.

According to the University website, Dr. Fell served as vice president for advancement at Centenary College, Shreveport, Louisiana, where she had been the chief development officer since 2000.

“She began her tenure at Centenary in 1986 in the Department of English. During her 14 years as a professor, she taught and published in the fields of literature, writing, and pedagogy.  She also led in the development of an interdisciplinary major in communication, which grew to become one of the college’s strongest majors.

A native of Stamps, Arkansas, President Fell holds a bachelor of science in education in English, with a minor in speech, from Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, and a master of arts in English from Louisiana Technical University in Ruston. She completed a Ph.D. in English from Texas A&M University at College Station.”
