Submitted by Dr. Leah Brant, Assistant Professor, ASL
In honor of International Week of the Deaf (Sept. 22–28), students in BLMC 160: Deaf Culture in the United States, shared interesting and important facts about Deaf culture and the Deaf community via sidewalk chalk on the Cory Street Mall. Students enthusiastically prepared information to help the campus community learn more about the significance of understanding and respecting the Deaf community.
Their hope was to inspire conversations as well as interest in learning more!
The UF ASL Club welcomes all students (no ASL skills needed!) and more information about the club can be found on Instagram at UF ASL Club. If you have interest in learning even more about ASL and the Deaf culture, UF offers: BLMC 156-ASL I, BLMC255-ASL II, and BLMC 160-Deaf Culture in the Unites States. You are welcome to contact Dr. Leah Brant at brant@findlay.edu with any and all questions.
