In Love With Their Love Story: Findlay Faithfuls Tommy ’19, MBA ’21 and Kelly (Wilson ’17) Bowman
Branden Ferguson Posted On February 15, 2024
Kelly and Tommy both chose University of Findlay to pursue their dreams. Kelly was starting her journey to become a veterinarian and Tommy was starting his journey in business. What they didn’t know was that they would find their best friend.
“I am absolutely in love with our love story,” said Kelly. “We are each other’s best friend. We met each other when neither of us were really looking, we fell in love, and the rest is history.”
The two of them first met at a baseball party, when Kelly saw Tommy dancing with a backpack on and decided to dance over to him. Their official first date came months later when the two of them rented movies. “Tommy picked me up in his red Mustang and we drove to Family Video,” recalled Kelly. “We picked out three movies, not thinking we would actually watch all of them. That night we played all three movies in the background while we talked all night.” From that point on, the two of them never spent more than a day or two apart.
The two of them consider their time at UF to be life-changing, as they both met while attending Findlay, they both graduated from Findlay, and Tommy was able to pursue his master’s online while Kelly finished her undergrad. “The University changed his life by working with him to achieve his goal and set him on an incredibly successful career path,” Kelly said. For Kelly, the staff in the pre-vet program played a “Huge” role in helping her prepare for and get into veterinary school.
Kelly and Tommy would find their schedules full in May 2021. “We both graduated the same weekend! Tommy being the gentleman he is said that he wanted to go to my vet school graduation instead of his own MBA,” Kelly said. “The following weekend we got married and then the following week we were in Hawaii.”
In looking back at their time at University of Findlay and the unique story they have, Kelly is in love with their love story. “I think it’s an honor to have our story live on forever in such an important place for us. If our kids choose to share in that, it’ll be even more special to our family.”
Tommy is a manager at a large corporation and is going into finance where he will be his own boss. Kelly is an emergency veterinarian. The two of them have decided to settle down in Columbus and say they have no children…”Yet.”
