UF’s Giving Tuesday on Dec. 3 will support ‘the full Findlay experience’
In this season of generosity, University of Findlay alumni, friends, parents, faculty, and staff are invited to make a difference through Giving Tuesday on December 3. The annual event takes place in conjunction with the globally recognized #GivingTuesday.
Held the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday is celebrated as an international day of giving, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.
UF is focusing on support of the student experience, including athletic programs. Donors have the opportunity to help current and future students enjoy “the full Findlay experience” with a gift to the Oilers Club (athletic boosters) or the Findlay Fund (supporting the University’s general fund).
More than 700 Oiler student-athletes currently compete in 22 NCAA sports. Last year, six teams won Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championships, and UF boasted 16 G-MAC Athletes of the Year, 111 All-Conference Athletes, and 55 All-Americans.
“Generous alumni and friends ensure that current operations at the University are strong and that ongoing growth and success lie ahead. Your gift will transform student support, academic and athletic programs, and campus facilities,” explained Madelynn Greenslade ‘21, UF director of annual giving.
As a part of the celebration of philanthropy, UF is asking alumni who were Oiler student-athletes to give an amount equaling their former jersey number, event, weight class, or personal record (PR) number, depending on their sport.
“A gift to the Oilers Club provides vital resources for our teams – from new equipment to training resources – and keeps UF at the top of its game,” Greenslade added.
Last year, 516 donors gave $188,071 on Giving Tuesday, she said.
Donations are now being accepted through UF’s secure, online service GiveCampus. All gifts are tax deductible.
“We want to thank all our UF friends and alumni for their loyal support and their belief in our mission of equipping students for meaningful lives and productive careers,” Greenslade said.
