UF Prepares for Annual Spring Horse Sale
The following article was written by Amber Hardeman, a University of Findlay junior, and a student in the equine marketing class. This class is tasked with the organization and promotion of the annual Spring Horse Sale.
University of Findlay will host the 19th annual Spring Horse Sale Saturday, April 27 at the Western Farm’s Dale Wilkinson Arena (14700 U.S. Route 68, south of Findlay). Demonstrations will begin at 10 a.m. and the horse sale will start at noon. The sale will be held in-person and virtually, with online bidding available in real time with the live auction.
This year’s sale lineup will feature approximately 20 horses of various breeds and backgrounds. The horses included in the sale are trained in diverse disciplines including western pleasure, reining, hunter-under-saddle, trail, 4-H ready, and more. Several of the horses featured in the Spring Sale are sired by distinguished horses such as KISSING THE GIRLS, VS GOODRIDE, VS CODE BLUE, MR ZIPPOS GOOD BAR, A TOUCH OF SUDDEN, and VITALYZED.
This traditional sale is made possible by University of Findlay equestrian students and staff. Both english and western equestrian students spend countless hours during the fall and spring semesters training and preparing these horses for the sale. The majority of the Spring Sale is produced, marketed, and managed by the University’s equine marketing students with the guidance and support of UF instructors and staff.
Proceeds from the sale are reinvested in the UF Equestrian program in the form of scholarships and the purchase of new horses to better aid the education and further the experience of students for years to come.
Visit Findlay’s Spring Sale website for more information on the sale or call 419-434-4656 for updates on the sale, virtual access, sale catalog, video, photos, featured horses, and more. Additional content and pictures can be found on the equestrian program’s social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, & TikTok).
