New President Elected for UF Alumni Board of Governors
Samuel Yates, ’16, of Findlay, has been elected president of the University of Findlay Alumni Board of Governors.
“The University of Findlay has been an essential part of my career and personal life, so I am honored to be able to serve and give back to my alma mater in this way,” said Yates, who works at Marathon Petroleum Corporation.
“The Alumni Board of Governors consists of some of the most passionate alumni who are committed to promoting the University through our activities and events,” he noted. “As president of the board, my goals are to continue to grow our relationship with the University and its students, and to increase alumni involvement in UF activities.”
At a May 1 meeting, he accepted the gavel from past president Nicole Burgy ’99.
Kelly Lavelle, director of the Wolfe Center for Alumni, Parents and Friends, thanked Burgy for her service as president.
“It has been my privilege to work alongside Nicole this past year and with her leadership, the alumni association continues to engage the UF alumni family,” Lavelle said.
The advisory board’s purpose is to promote the University through alumni events and to provide representation and support to UF and the University Board of Trustees. Board members meet on campus in the fall and spring each year.

Student representatives serving two-year appointments are Gracie Clement from College of Business, Caitlyn Maag from College of Education, Kaitlyn Froelich from College of Health Professions, Zoey Cook from College of Pharmacy, Victoria Ritzler from College of Science, Ashlyn Coleman, Student Government Association president; and Katie Harris, University Advancement Ambassadors president.
