UF’s College of Education Mourns the Loss of Faculty Member Dr. John “Skip” Cindric

The University of Findlay is saddened to announce the passing of John “Skip” Cindric, Ed.D., professor of education, on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2020.

Cindric was a full-time faculty member since 1986 and taught in the Master of Arts in Education Core, Teacher Leader Endorsement, and Doctor of Education programs. After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Education from Miami University in Oxford, he continued his education at Bowling Green State University with a Master of Education, then went on to attain the degree of Doctor of Education from The University of Toledo.

Known for being highly active on campus through holding multiple administrative positions and membership in a variety of committees. During his time at Findlay, Cindric was a Professor of Education (1986-2020), the University’s first-ever Dean of the College of Education (1999-2000), and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty (2000-2004). He was also a large part of the community as he volunteered for a variety of organizations and board of directors.

“Dr. Cindric has been an integral part of this institution since 1986,” said Julie McIntosh, Ed.D., dean of the College of Education. “His impact on UF will be felt for many years to come. He was incredibly student-centered and loved teaching.”

Cindric is survived by his wife, Jean, along with their children Chelsey (Bob) Link, Jof (Kathleen), Brae (Kayla), and Kieron; seven grandchildren: Poppy, Hazel, Cillian, John Francis, IV, Leighton, Luke, and Isla; and a sister, Susan (George) Palisin.

Visitation will be held for family and friends from 2-6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, and also from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 22, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 750 Bright Road, Findlay, Ohio 45840.
