Oilers Finish Day One in Fourth | Roth Tied for Lead

Westlake, Ohio - The University of Findlay men's golf team was back in action on Monday, Oct. 6 for the first day of play at the Tom Tontimonia Invitational hosted by Cleveland State.  The field is filled by nine division one programs and the Oilers, the lone division two team.  Findlay fired a 292 (+8) in round one followed by a 290 (+6) in round two, finding themselves in fourth place after one day of play.  
 
Leading the Oilers was Cahle Roth, as the sophomore would record a three under 68 in round one and finish with an even par 71 in round two.  Roth will enter the final round in a tie for first place.
 
Also with a solid day was Luke Metzger.  The senior would start his day with a 73 (+2) in round one, but would come back strong in round two with a 70 (-1), bringing his total score to one over.  He finds himself in a tie for 10th entering the final 18 holes.
 
Also competing for the Oilers was Ross Dietz, Zach Miller, and Jack Gerker.  Dietz would finish his day with scores of 76 and 73 to bring his score to seven over.  Miller would start his day with a 75 before finishing with a 76 to bring his total to nine over.  Rounding out the lineup was Jack Gerker, who finished the first 36 holes at 11 over.
 
Competing as an individual was Cody Widener.  The sophomore currently stands at nine over, finding himself in a tie for 58th.
 

The Oilers will be back in action tomorrow, Oct. 7 for the final round of play.  They are currently set to tee off at 9 am.
