Oilers Ranked Second in First Release of Regional Rankings

Indianapolis, Ind. – On Monday, Nov. 3, the NCAA revealed its' first round of regional rankings for each of the four super regions in football after last weeks announcement of teams that were "under consideration".  The University of Findlay football team, which is one of six undefeated teams in the country at 9-0, are ranked second in the region, the highest regional ranking in program history. Findlay is one of three teams from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) to appear in the poll.

This year, the NCAA Division II Playoffs have expanded with eight teams from each of the super regions earning a spot instead of the previous seven. Also, this is the first year that conference champions are automatic qualifiers into the tournament field. The top four teams in the regional rankings earn the right to host in the opening round.

After eight years in Super Region 1, realignment has shifted the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) back into a region with the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).  Other teams from the G-MAC to appear on the list are Ashland University, fourth, and Northwood University, tenth.

This is the second of four regional rankings that will conclude with the NCAA DII Playoff bracket being announced on Sunday, Nov. 16.
