Findlay Wins at Lake Erie 3-2

Painesville, Ohio- The University of Findlay men's soccer team earned a 3-2 victory over Lake Erie College on Saturday, Nov. 1. Having already clinched a spot in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championship earlier in the week, Findlay held on for their ninth win of the season at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium. With the win, Findlay improves to 9-5-2 on the season and 8-3-2 in the league. Meanwhile, Lake Erie falls to 4-5-8 on the year and 4-5-4 in the G-MAC.

Findlay struck early as senior Ryan Dickinson found the back of the net in the fifth minute to give the Oilers a 1-0 lead. Just two minutes later, a foul in the box set up Dickinson again, and he converted the penalty kick to extend the lead to 2-0. Findlay will hold that 2-0 league headed into the break.

Senior Jeroen Van Der Veen buried a shot into the top left corner off a feed from senior Tom Middleham, extending Findlay's lead to three with just 18 minutes left in the match.

Lake Erie fought back, scoring in the 78th and 85th minutes, but it wasn't enough as Findlay held on to secure a 3-2 victory over the home team.

Findlay managed eight shots in the game, six of which were on goal, while Lake Erie tallied 18 shots with only four reaching the target.

Senior Keegan Grant went the full 90 minutes in goal for the Orange and Black, making two saves.

Findlay will be back in action Tuesday, Nov. 4 as they conclude the regular season with a match against the Dragons of Tiffin. That game will take place at DeHaven Field and is scheduled for an 11:30am start.
