Servant of Two Masters Brings Laughter to UF Theatre
Josh Eilola Posted On November 14, 2024
The University of Findlay’s theatre students are excited to present The Servant of Two Masters, a vibrant adaptation of Carlo Goldoni’s classic comedy that promises laughter, intrigue, and Italian flair. Set in mid-17th century Italy, this high-energy performance brings to life the spirited world of commedia dell’arte, complete with mistaken identities, love-struck couples, hilarious misunderstandings, and plenty of slapstick comedy. The Servant of Two Masters will run fromNovember 14-17, 2024 at the University of Findlay, Powell Grimm Theatre. Tickets are $8 for the general public and free for UF faculty, staff, and students with a valid ID or discount code. Tickets can be purchased through the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts at www.mcpa.org or by calling 419-423-2787.
The Servant of Two Masters follows the antics of a quick-witted servant who takes on two jobs—and two paychecks—without either of his masters knowing. The result is a lively mix of romance, swordplay, disguises, and classic commedia dell’arte stock characters who capture the essentials of life: love, food, and money. Audiences can expect a unique experience that includes a play-within-a-play, a cast of colorful characters, and a feast for the senses with an impressive twenty-seven plates of meatballs!
This new adaptation is presented by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing, LLC, servicing the Dramatists Play Service collection. For more information on this arrangement, please visit www.dramatists.com.
