UF to Host Day of Giving March 21
University of Findlay alumni, faculty, staff, students, and community are invited to #OilerUpGiveBack during the University’s annual Day of Giving event from noon on Thursday, March 21 through noon on Friday, March 22.
This 24-hour event is one of the largest fundraising events for the University each year and raises donations that support students’ career goals.
“When you give on this day, you keep the Findlay experience vibrant and enrich the lives of UF students,” explained Madelynn Greenslade ‘21 UF director of annual giving. “Your gift to UF matters for every student, in every way, on every day.”
Donors are encouraged to choose the area of campus they would like to support, such as the Findlay Fund, Findlay Forward Scholarships, the Mazza Museum, athletics, or any of the six colleges.
This year, the UF Alumni Board of Governors (ABOG) is rallying the support of Oiler alumni through its Decades of Giving. ABOG members, who graduated from UF during a variety of decades, are making their gifts and encouraging their fellow alumni to participate.
Ann DeHaven ’70, Ed Brandt ’81, Michael Bankey ’84, and Sam Yates, ’16, are among those who already are supporting Day of Giving.
Yates believes Day of Giving is an opportunity for donors to make an investment in the Findlay community, their alma mater, and support the University’s mission to provide students with meaningful lives and productive careers.
“Each year, I send a gift to the Findlay Fund, which provides the greatest impact to the University by updating classroom technology and lab equipment, providing vital student services such as internship and career placement, and supporting clinical opportunities on campus and in the field,” explained Yates, who now works at Marathon Petroleum Corporation and serves as the ABOG president.
University staff and students will kick off the event by “Ringing In Day of Giving” at the bell tower at noon on March 21.
Last year, 359 donors made gifts totaling $95,908 during the Day of Giving celebration, according to Greenspan.
Donations can be made online through the University’s secure, online service GiveCampus.
Donors can increase their Day of Giving impact by becoming an advocate. They can create a free online account by registering at GiveCampus Campaign to help spread the news on social media and challenge others to give. All gifts are tax-deductible.
