University of Findlay students, faculty, and staff came together on Saturday, Jan. 21 to host a mobile food pantry to benefit local community members. The event was held in partnership with CHOPIN Hall in an effort to help those in need, and concluded a week-long celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. that included a toiletry drive, a guest speaker, service days, and an open discussion with community members.

Cars lined up in the Davis Street Building parking lot as early as 6:00 a.m. on Saturday. CHOPIN Hall then arrived to deliver 10,000 pounds of food. University of Findlay students, faculty, and staff were joined by community member volunteers to help distribute 5 tons of food, and the toiletry items that were collected earlier in the week. In total, 204 families were served, adding up to 452 individuals being helped. Each family received meat, beans, and canned goods.

For those families that missed the opportunity to receive assistance, CHOPIN Hall will hold additional mobile food pantries in February. The next mobile food pantry will take place at Findlay’s Gateway Church (County Road 9) on Feb. 4, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The following event is scheduled for Feb. 18, 2023 at Findlay’s First Presbyterian Church from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. For a list of all upcoming events, and to register for assistance, please visit CHOPIN Hall’s website.
