Newhard Planetarium Announces Upcoming Summer 2024 Shows

University of Findlay’s Newhard Planetarium will host a series of shows scheduled for the summer of 2024. These shows are designed to engage and educate audiences of all ages about the wonders of our universe. Each event will take place on Friday evenings from 6-6:30 p.m., and entry is by donation. Reservations are required and must be made by 2 p.m. on the day of the event. Reservations can be made on the Newhard Planetarium webpage.

- “Phantom of the Universe: The Hunt for Dark Matter”

“Phantom of the Universe: The Hunt for Dark Matter” gives planetarium visitors an overview of this elusive part of our universe that has yet to be physically documented. Dark matter is believed to make up 27% of the universe, but what exactly is it, and why can’t we find it? The film explains the theory of dark matter and showcases the indirect evidence collected by astronomers like Vera Rubin.
- “Back to the Moon: For Good”

“Back to the Moon for Good” is a full-dome planetarium show that chronicles the international teams competing in the Google Lunar XPRIZE. Narrated by Tim Allen, the show highlights the race to be the first citizen-led project to land a robot on the Moon and conduct scientific research.

Explore the world of chemistry with “Cosmic Recipe: Setting the Periodic Table.” This engaging show connects the minuscule atoms to the massive stars, explaining how the physical worlds of the small and large interact.
