University of Findlay held its 19th annual Spring Horse Sale, welcoming community members to bid on and purchase various types of trained horses. This year, 38 horses were sold, totaling $379,150 in UF western horses, English program horses, and outside-owned horses.

This year, horses ranged from pleasure, all-around western, ranch, and English. UF western horses sold for an average of $11,759, the English program averaged $5,783 per horse, and outside-owned horses averaged $10,228. This year’s highest-selling horse was “VS Patriot in Blue,” bringing in $25,500. This was the first year the horse sale had three horses sell for more than $20,000 each.

The annual Spring Horse Sale was made possible due to the efforts of the equine marketing class and equestrian students. “From riding and training, print and merchandising, pedigree research, videography, photography, and social media, the students run 100% of the sale,” said Brandon Morin, M.Ed., Instructor of western riding and equine business management. “Money earned from the sale goes to purchasing new horses for the program as well as scholarships for equestrian studies students.”
