Findlay Named in U.S. News’ Best National University Rankings for 19th Year
For the 19th consecutive year, University of Findlay (UF) is among the Best National Universities according to the U.S. News and World Reports 2025 edition of “Best Colleges.” UF ranked number 332 overall among national universities and again this year is among the schools that performed best on U.S. News’ social mobility ranking factors.
University of Findlay President Katherine Fell, Ph.D., said, “It is an honor to once again be included in this prestigious ranking of national universities,” adding that “this achievement makes clear our faculty and staff’s commitment to the University’s mission to equip students for meaningful lives and productive careers.”
U.S. News provides a range of numerical rankings and lists, such as those for National Universities, Liberal Arts Colleges, and Historically Black Colleges and Universities. These rankings aim to assist students and their families in refining their college search. The institutions are assessed based on several criteria, including graduation rates, first-year retention rates, financial resources, student-faculty ratio, borrower debt, and peer evaluations. To qualify as a national university, schools must offer a range of undergraduate majors, plus master’s and doctoral programs, and emphasize faculty research or award professional practice doctorates.
U.S. News assessed nearly 1,800 accredited four-year institutions nationwide using 19 key measures of academic quality. Colleges and universities in each category were ranked against their peers, based on their composite weighted score. The 2025 Best National University Rankings took into consideration graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, expert opinion, financial resources, and student selectivity when creating this year’s list.
Among the other universities UF shares its Best National Universities ranking with are Mississippi College, Carson Newman University, University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh, University of Texas – Tyler, and Trevecca Nazarene University.
University of Findlay again ranked in “Social Mobility.” This category recognizes universities that advance social mobility by enrolling and graduating large proportions of disadvantaged students awarded Pell Grants. Findlay was acknowledged for its efforts to provide additional financial aid for those who need it and ensure that students of all socioeconomic levels have access to support services that make a college education possible.
“For 40 years, Best Colleges has continued to evolve as a trusted companion to prospective students and their families during the decision-making process,” said LaMont Jones, Ed.D., managing editor for Education at U.S. News. “The rankings and editorial content offer crucial data as well as college advice and informed reporting to all who seek a college education.”
