An educational presentation on “Cryptocurrency in Estate Planning and Charitable Giving” will be offered Thursday, March 6, at the University of Findlay. UF’s estate and planned giving council will host the event, beginning at 7:30 a.m.
Kirk Ross, regional fiduciary executive at Fifth Third Bank, is an attorney and expert on cryptocurrency in estate planning and charitable giving who will discuss how crypto is transforming the sector.
Kenneth McIntyre Jr., UF vice president of advancement, said the program will be beneficial for any finance, insurance, legal, banking, or non-profit professionals who are helping clients make charitable, financial, and tax decisions.
“With Kirk’s financial and philanthropic expertise, we are looking forward to learning from him the best practices for making cryptocurrency gifts to support non-profit causes, along with including crypto in wills and trusts to ensure assets are smoothly transferred to your beneficiaries,” McIntyre said.
After attending graduate school at Bowling Green State University, Ross and his family moved to Chicago where he earned his law degree from Northwestern University in 2004. He has worked at large and small firms, universities and banks. He served as the director of planned giving at Bowling Green State University and the University of Toledo Foundation for 10 years prior to joining Fifth Third’s Private Bank in 2022. He currently serves as internal fiduciary counsel to the bank’s entire wealth management group.
The program includes breakfast and it will take place at the Winebrenner Building, Room 254. Register by February 28 at https://oilers.findlay.edu/pages/other-events/planned-giving-cryptocurrency or contact Jamie Orians at 419-297-3390 or jamie.orians@findlay.edu.
