University of Findlay’s Honors Program hosted its first-ever “Geek Week”, a weeklong celebration of all things nerdy and geeky, aimed at fostering creativity, community, and campus-wide involvement. From diorama-making to Dungeons & Dragons, students across all majors came together to embrace their inner geek and explore new hobbies in a welcoming environment.
Held over the course of five days, Geek Week featured interactive activities every evening, including trivia challenges, board games, and storytelling sessions. The event was designed to highlight the diverse talents and passions of UF’s student body, offering something for everyone to enjoy.
“Geek Week was created to celebrate the broad diversity of talents and hobbies among University of Findlay’s student population,” said Paige Grum, the vice president of the Honors Student Association. “We wanted to provide a safe and interactive space for students from all majors and interests to come together, share ideas, and embrace their creative sides.”
The goals of Geek Week went beyond fun and games. The event encouraged students to engage with peers outside their usual circles, fostering a sense of unity and collaboration on campus.
“Whether it was group trivia or diorama creation, these activities allowed students to work together on problem-solving tasks outside of the classroom,” Grum explained. “It’s all about building connections and trying something new.”
Marisa Prisco, president of the Honors Student Association, added, “Aside from boosting awareness of all that the Honors Program offers, we hope Geek Week showed students there is always a space for them to feel seen, heard, and accepted on campus.”
Geek Week organizers hope the event will grow in future years, with even more student organizations and campus groups contributing to the celebration.
“Next year, we aim to involve more student organizations to create a culture of unity across campus,” said Grum. “Events like Geek Week remind us that honors is an inclusive environment, striving to support the interests of all students.”
The Honors Program at University of Findlay is committed to fostering a campus culture that celebrates creativity, collaboration, and community engagement. Geek Week exemplified this mission, proving that everyone has a little geek inside them waiting to shine.
