University of Findlay aims to educate and entertain as they provide shows at the Newhard Planetarium three times a week through the month of March. The events are scheduled on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and will through March 29. The events are free and open to the public, but donations are welcome.
Newhard Planetarium will feature “Cosmic Recipe: Setting the Periodic Table” on Mondays at 6 p.m. The video will explore the world of chemistry including protons, neutrons, and electrons. Visitors will connect the physical worlds of the small and the large in an engaging and inspiring show.
Visit the Planetarium on Thursdays at 6 p.m. for “Solar Eclipse Sneak Peek.” Guests will learn about the upcoming solar eclipse, what to expect, and what to look for. See a solar eclipse on screen, learn safety tips for viewing, and more.
Friday’s at 6 p.m. will feature “Sizing Up Space.” The distance from Earth to the moon is more than 235,000 miles. However, the closest planet to Earth (Venus) is more than 140 million miles away. The distance between the sun and Neptune (the most distant planet in the Solar System) is nearly 2.8 billion miles. Guests will explore the size of space and the scale of the Universe.
Registration is not required to attend the events but is highly encouraged due to a capacity limit of 40 people. Registration cut-off is 2 p.m. the day of the showing. For more information on the events, or to register for one of the shows, visit the planetarium webpage.
