Generous UF alumni and friends make Day of Giving 2024 a success
University of Findlay alumni, friends, faculty, staff, students, and the local community joined together in a big way for Day of Giving 2024 to collectively raise more than $120,000.
“The generosity of UF donors is so impressive, as they continue to give and change students’ lives,” said Kenneth McIntyre Jr., vice president for University advancement. “No matter what program or project they support, it positively impacts our students and makes UF a stronger institution.”
This year, 537 donors gave $120,273, according to Madelynn Greenslade, ’21, director of annual giving. She noted that UF had set a goal of reaching 500 donors to participate this year.
As a special incentive, a group of UF Board of Trustees members collectively provided $20,000 in matching gifts, including Trustee Cliff Cook who offered $10,000 to match $1 for each $1 donated to the Findlay Fund. Trustee Marian Lowe also matched up to $10,000 for the Findlay Forward Scholarship.
Trustee Chuck Bills contributed $10,000 for a Dean’s Challenge to reward the three colleges that raised the most money on Day of Giving. Those funds were awarded to the College of Business, College of Pharmacy, and College of Education.
“We appreciate the trustees’ help in encouraging more alumni and friends to donate, along with deans, staff members, and other loyal University friends who made matching gifts for specific programs,” said Greenslade, adding that all of the matching gifts were “unlocked” by gaining the full support of donors.
Individual gifts and matched funds provide students with scholarships, support University growth, and day-to-day operations, such as maintaining and updating campus facilities, classroom technology and lab equipment; providing vital student services, such as counseling, health care, internships, and career placement; and supporting research and clinical opportunities on campus and in the field.
“Our donors understand that when they give on this day, they keep the Findlay experience vibrant and enrich the lives of UF students,” Greenslade said. “These gifts matter for every student, in every way, on every day.”
