Maureen Sampson, MAE ’22, returned to the University of Findlay as part of the College of Education’s Visiting Educator Series. Sampson, who currently teaches eighth grade science and high school Anatomy & Physiology at Van Buren Schools, recently received the Ohio Middle Level Association (OMLA) Northwest Regional Award for Best Middle Level Practices.

During her visit, Sampson met with current education majors, participated in classroom discussions, and shared insights from her career in middle and high school science education. She reflected on how her experience at UF helped prepare her for the realities of teaching, emphasizing the value of practical training and strong mentorship.

“University of Findlay prepared us to navigate challenges,” said Sampson. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to be back at UF, the preparation I received here, both in the classroom and during field placements, made a real difference in my ability to support students and grow as an educator.”

The Visiting Educator Series connects alumni with future educators to foster mentorship and highlight the diverse career paths of UF graduates. Sampson’s return served as an example of the impact UF alumni are making in education across Ohio and beyond.
