Faculty and students from the University of Findlay’s Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHSS) program recently teamed up with St. Andrews United Methodist Church to participate in the Appalachia Service Project (ASP). This collaborative effort focused on critical rebuilding initiatives in North Carolina, aiding communities in need.
Seth Ebersviller and Justin Richardson, faculty members in the EHSS program, led the project alongside a dedicated group of EHSS students. The team worked on various restoration projects, contributing their expertise to improve living conditions for families affected by poverty and inadequate housing.
The Appalachia Service Project, a nonprofit organization, mobilizes volunteers to repair and build homes across Appalachia. Since its inception, ASP has transformed thousands of lives by fostering safer, warmer, and drier living environments. More information about this impactful organization is available at asphome.org. The partnership not only provided students with practical fieldwork but also emphasized the importance of service leadership and giving back to communities in need.
