Football Tabbed Third in G-MAC Preseason Coaches Poll

Indianapolis, Ind. - The University of Findlay football team has been selected third in the 2025 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Coaches Poll which was released by the conference on Tuesday, August 19. Findlay received 75 points in the poll including one first place vote. This is the ninth year of G-MAC football for Findlay and the program has never been selected lower than third in any of the nine preseason polls.

The Oilers, which received votes in the American Football Coaches' Association (AFCA) National Preseason Poll, are coming off of a season in which they went 9-2 and finished tied for second in the league standings with a record of 7-2.

Since the league expansion eight seasons ago, the G-MAC has seen five different schools earn a championship. In those eight years, the preseason favorite has gone on to win the title just twice, highlighting the parity within the Great Midwest. Those two were Ohio Dominican in 2017 and Tiffin in the 2021 spring season.

Ashland University, which won the league last season and went on to the NCAA DII Playoffs, earned top spot in the poll with 88 points.

Findlay opens up the season at home with the renewal of an old rivalry as the University of Indianapolis comes to Donnell on Saturday, Sep. 6. The two teams played 12 times in a 14-year stretch beginning in 1998 but have not faced off on the gridiron since 2011. Ranked No. 20 in the country, the Greyhounds will be the first nationally ranked opponent to come into Donnell Stadium for a season-opener since No. 7 Indiana University (PA) kicked off the 2002 season in Findlay, Ohio.

After another home game against Wayne State in the second week of the season, the G-MAC scheduled kicks off on Saturday, Sep. 20 on the road at Lake Erie College.
