University of Findlay is proud to announce the launch of a new biology pre-medicine program, designed to prepare students for success in medical school and healthcare-related careers.

Beginning this fall, prospective students can apply to University of Findlay and select the new undergraduate track with a pre-medicine emphasis giving them a pathway toward professional schools and colleges in medicine, chiropractic, dentistry, physician assistant, and optometry.

“Our new biology pre-medicine program reinforces our focus on students and provides them with the opportunities to learn and eventually serve their communities through meaningful and productive healthcare careers that begin at the University of Findlay,” shared Nikki Hintze, vice president of enrollment management and marketing.

Housed within the College of Sciences, students will take rigorous coursework in biology, chemistry, and human physiology with hands-on clinical experience and personalized pre-med advising. Students will have opportunities to conduct undergraduate research and participate in the Pre-Med Club. The curriculum was developed in close collaboration with faculty, healthcare professionals, and admissions advisors to meet workforce demands.

“By aligning our curriculum with entrance requirements and building strong connections with alumni and health professionals, we provide students with invaluable shadowing and research experiences that not only prepare them academically but also strengthen their applications and confidence as future healthcare leaders, ” commented Bethany Henderson-Dean, PH.D. and associate professor and chair of biology.

Program Highlights Include:

  • A curriculum aligned with Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) competencies and medical school prerequisites
  • Access to research opportunities, internships, and shadowing programs with local hospitals and clinics
  • One-on-one pre-med advising, application support, and interview preparation
  • Emphasis on ethical leadership, healthcare disparities, and patient-centered care
  • Advanced coursework exploring disease processes including microbial pathogenesis, immunology, and cancer biology and many others

Applications are now open for the inaugural class. Prospective students and families can learn more at www.findlay.edu.
