Oilers Roll Past Kentucky Wesleyan in 6-0 Dominating Victory

Owensboro, Ky. – The University of Findlay women's soccer team put together a commanding performance on Thursday, Oct. 23, earning a 6-0 shutout victory over Kentucky Wesleyan at Panther Field. The Oilers improve to 9-3-3 overall and 8-2-1 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play, while the Panthers drop to 1-11-2 and 1-8-1 in conference action.

The Oilers' offense clicked early and often, netting four goals in the first half. Senior Sydney Noble opened the scoring in the 14th minute with her sixth goal of the season, then assisted on freshman Addison Williams' first goal just ten minutes later. Williams continued her hot streak, scoring twice more before halftime to complete her second hat trick of the season and push Findlay's lead to 4-0.

The Oilers added two more tallies in the second half as senior Raegan Smith scored in the 62nd minute off an assist from senior Ava Ayers and junior Ashlyn Brown, and senior Paige Smucker sealed the 6-0 win with a strike in the 77th minute.

Findlay completely controlled the stat sheet, outshooting Kentucky Wesleyan 29-3, including a 14-2 margin in shots on goal. The Oilers also held a 5-0 edge in corner kicks.

Williams led all players with six shots and three goals, while Noble added five shots, a goal, and an assist. Ayers was active on the attack with four shots and an assist.

Senior goalkeeper Audrey Gibson-Zweifel went the distance in net, making two saves to record the shutout.

The Oilers play next on Thursday, Oct. 30, when they plan to 'White Out DeHaven' to host Ashland at home. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
