Late Goals Lift Oilers Over Thomas More | Win 2-0

Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay women's soccer team secured a dominant 2-0 victory over Thomas More on Saturday, October 18 at DeHaven Field on senior day. The win moves the Oilers to 8-3-3 overall and 7-2-1 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play, while the Saints fall to 6-7-1 (5-4-1 G-MAC).

Findlay controlled the pace of play from the opening whistle, outshooting Thomas More 26-2 overall and 11-1 on goal. The Oilers also held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks and committed just seven fouls in the match.

After a scoreless first half, Findlay broke through in the 75th minute when freshman Addison Williams scored her fifth goal of the year. The sophomore finished a cross from senior Sydney Noble, who recorded her third assist of the season.

The Oilers continued to pressure the Thomas More defense, and in the 83rd minute, senior Raegan Smith found the back of the net off a header for her third goal of the year. Senior Ava Ayers tallied the assist, her third of the season, to make it 2-0.

Findlay's offensive attack was balanced throughout the lineup. Noble led the team with five shots with three on goal, while seniors Payton Miller and Raegan Smith each added four shots, keeping the Saints' defense on its heels all afternoon.

In goal, senior Audrey Gibson-Zweifel faced one shot on target and made one save in the first half, while fellow senior Cat Graves took over after halftime to help preserve the shutout.

Findlay will hit the road on Thursday, October 23, when the Oilers take on Kentucky Wesleyan in Owensboro, Kentucky at 6:00 pm.
