The University of Findlay announces the launch of the Oiler Early Advantage program, a new initiative for incoming freshmen starting in the Fall 2025 semester. The Oiler Early Advantage program provides an exceptional opportunity for first-time freshmen to begin their academic journey early through flexible, 100% online courses available at a reduced cost.
“The Oiler Early Advantage program is designed to give incoming students the ability to jumpstart their education in a way that’s both flexible and affordable,” said Nikki Hintze, Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing at the University of Findlay. “We wanted to offer students the opportunity to learn our systems and platforms early, to set themselves up for success, and ease into their academic journey. By offering the program at a reduced rate, we’re making it accessible for all students.”
Students will have a select set of foundational courses to choose from in English, psychology, philosophy, and geology available from June 23- August 3. The cost for each course in the Oiler Early Advantage program is just $550 per credit hour. Oiler Early Advantage courses are offered online, allowing students to balance their summer schedules while earning college credits from the comfort of their own homes.
“By completing courses early this means they can focus more on advanced coursework and the full University experience once they begin their first semester, allowing them to dive deeper into their studies and participate in campus activities,” Hintze added.
Students enrolled in any of the Oiler Early Advantage courses designated will also receive access to a free college readiness course, designed to help them build the essential skills needed for academic success. This course will focus on crucial areas such as time management, effective study strategies, and navigating the complexities of college life. Students will learn how to manage their coursework efficiently, stay organized, and adapt to the demands of college academics. The college readiness course is included at no extra cost for those enrolling in the Oiler Early Advantage program. Additionally, the college readiness course is available to non-enrolled students for a small fee.
“This is just one of the many initiatives we have in place to ensure that our new students are prepared, confident, and ready for their first year at the University of Findlay,” Hintze added. This new program is part of the University of Findlay’s ongoing commitment to student success. It is just one of many offerings designed to ensure that students have the resources, support, and opportunities they need to thrive both academically and personally during their time at the university.”
Applicable courses include ENGL 104: College Writing I: Introduction to Academic Writing, GEOL 205: Surficial Earth Systems, PHIL 100: Introduction to Philosophy, and PSYC 100: General Psychology.
