She is the V.O. and Elizabeth Kahl Figge Chair in Catholic Studies at The University of Iowa and is also the Associate Vice President of Research at Iowa. She is trained as a historian and anthropologist of religion; her classes and scholarship all investigate how everyday people live their faith. She is the author of numerous articles and books and is currently working on her sixth.
