#1 Oilers Win Beall Fall Classic | Duflo Ties for First
Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay women's golf team wrapped up play at the William Beall Fall Classic, hosted October 6–7 at Findlay Country Club. The 54-hole event featured some of the region's top programs, and the nationally ranked No. 1 Oilers proved why they sit atop the rankings, claiming the team title on their home course.
Findlay posted rounds of 298 (+10), 297 (+9), and 299 (+11) to finish at +30 for the tournament, securing a comfortable first-place finish in the strong field. No. 7 Grand Valley State finished second at +44, while the University of Indianapolis rounded out the top three at +47. This marks the Oilers' third team win of the fall.
Junior Ashleigh Duflo saved her best round for last, firing a 2-under 70 in Tuesday's final round to climb into a tie for first place. Duflo birdied her final two holes of the tournament to finish at +2 overall, forcing a playoff with Ferris State's Kamryn Shannon. After an intense six-hole battle, Duflo bogeyed the final playoff hole, earning her a strong runner-up finish and another standout performance in a fall season full of them.
Sophomore Gracie James continued a strong showing, carding a 75 (+3) in the final round to finish at +7 for the tournament and claim a top-five individual finish. Senior Ellie Yeazell posted a 78 (+6) in the final round, finishing seventh overall at +9 and securing yet another top-10 finish this season.
Senior Hayley Dye closed with a 79 (+7) to place in a tie for 16th, while freshman Emma Myers contributed a solid 76 (+4) to round out Findlay's lineup.
Several Oilers also competed as individuals, gaining valuable tournament experience. Avery Thompson finished at +13, followed by Mia Ringger at +15, Paige Weiss at +32, and Audrey Keplar at +33.
The Oilers will conclude their fall schedule at the Intercollegiate at Nemacolin, hosted in Farmington, Pa., on October 20–21, as they look to close the fall season on a high note before heading into the championship stretch next spring.
