A twist on your average glass of water is coming to UF
UF to Introduce New Beverages in Henderson

After the replacement of Coke Freestyle machines with Pepsi fountains, University of Findlay Dining Services is introducing a new beverage option: Bevi.
“Bevi is a dispenser, specifically for water… that allows students, faculty, and staff to kind of customize their water beverage. It’s taking a glass of water and making it a real experience,” said Riley Hale, field marketing coordinator for Sodexo.
“There were a lot of concerns with pulling out the Coke Freestyle machine and putting in Pepsi…there may be as many healthy options on the Pepsi machine. This gives quite a variety of those healthier options,” Hale said. “I think students are really looking for anything that they can personalize.”
Bevi water dispensers let users customize their water with flavors, carbonation, and enhancements. Each machine can hold up to eight of 16 possible flavors that include lemon, blood orange, peach, and mango. It can dispense still and carbonated water at cold, hot, and ambient (room) temperatures. Water can be enhanced with vitamins, electrolytes, and caffeine. All of these options can be combined on the touchscreen for a total of three different flavors and two enhancements.
“This is a game changer,” said Megan Arbogast, a sophomore criminal justice major. Arbogast said that she was excited by the opportunity to create custom caffeinated beverages.
According to Hale, the caffeine option is controversial due to concerns of caffeine overuse and some schools have elected to forgo it. The focus boost enhancement, which contains caffeine, l-theanine, and magnesium, is only available in the U.S.
“I think we try it. It only allows you to do half of your daily recommended intake, so we shouldn’t have any issues there. But if for some reason that were to become a concern, for any reason, we can always change what it offers,” Hale said.
Bevi charges no up-front cost to install its machines, and Hale says that the cost for the flavoring is comparable to syrups for the Pepsi machines.
While the box is already in Henderson Dining Hall, the machine will not be up and running for a little while.
“There has to be some electrical work done, so we are hoping in the next week or two. So hopefully pretty quick. We just ordered it a few weeks ago, so the whole thing’s moved very quickly,” Hale said.
The machine will be placed next to the Pepsi machine on the left side of Henderson and is expected to fit on the end of the row without moving anything.
